Faces of Tenpins

JOSE VIRAMONTES: Jose, 87, bowls five leagues a week, including back-to-back leagues on Thursdays, averaging in the 160's and higher. (393kb) PERRY HAMPEL: Perry was a prolific youth coach in his native Canada before migrating to New Mexico. (790kb) LIANNE CRUMP: Lianne bowls with her husband, Robert, here in the Thursday Doubles, in between training for 26.2 mile Marathons. She has run the famous Boston Marathon as well as the Duke City Marathon in Albuquerque and hits the streets in Phoenix next January. Bowling-wise, the marathoner has sought coaching from pro bowler, Dana Miller-Mackie in an effort to improve her league average. (662kb) BILLY GRANT: Billy has been a fixture at Tenpins since he was six, starting work here as a lane attendant when he was 14 years old. His ultimate goal - become a professional bowler on the regional and national tours. Should be a formality... (515kb) MIKE MILLER: Mike, a co-owner of Tenpins, is a PBA national champion, one of a handful to have bowled a perfect game of 300 on network television, and sole owner of ten regional and three national titles. He revolutionized ball delivery by 'going thumbless', after which he won his three biggest crowns. Mike is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the sport and is the winning head coach of the Rio Rancho Rams (17-0 and counting), not to mention his ball measuring and drilling expertise that he displays daily at the Tenpins' Pro-Shop.
