Here's the latest on what's been happening at our center in Rio Rancho:
RAMS BOWLERS 6-0 IN HIGH SCHOOL MEETS
The Rio Rancho High School Number 1 team goes to the
tournament Saturday at Silva Lanes unbeaten thus far in the state-wide bowling season, after
winning their sixth consecutive title at Bernalillo last Saturday.
The Rams have won by margins
of 45 pins over Manzano High # 1 up to more than 350 pins. Head coach, Mike Miller, thinks
the results can continue to improve, given the two days of practice, as well as league and
other tournament play at Tenpins & More.
"They are playing well as a team. Right
now, we're working on improving their spare shooting and getting the right equipment for
the various lane conditions they face around the state", said Miller, before leaving
to help his daughter, Adrienne on the new Women's Pro Bowlers Tour in Ohio next week.
Rams
anchor-man, Ryan Scheer bowled his first 700 series Sunday in the big Youth State Championships
that conclude this weekend at Tenpins. Scheer bowled 208, 234, 258 for an even 700, displaying
the benefit of constant practice and competition play.
* Tenpins' manager, Steve Mackie,
59, showed that bowling is one of the few lifetime sports by rolling his second-highest set
in a 46-year career on the lanes in Wednesday's round of the Bud Classic Trios at Tenpins.
Mackie put together 233, 277, 278 for 788, eight pins shy of his best bowled in Sydney, Australia
37 years ago in 1971. He had 27 strikes from 36 shots thrown.
* Some significant events are
scheduled at Tenpins the next few months, including the Youth State titles this weekend,
a $2,000 doubles marathon Thanksgiving Eve, the state finals of the New
Mexico Games from
November 22-30 and the annual Christmas Cash 9-pin No-Tap finals the first week of December.
